„Ensemble Du Verre“ presents „Sanctuary For Animals“, 11 musical collages.On the third album of producer and drummer Soenke Duewer aka Batterie Du Verre, various quite different elements melt together into one homogenous soundtrack. The ensemble makes best use of the player’s instrumental virtuosity, combining modern club music, Schellack samples and free jazz elements, (classical) song writing and spoken word poetry with elctronica. Another E.D.V. opus which can’t easily be categorized. In pigeon hole terms, the result settles somewhere between score music, club sound, poetry and jazz.
Duewer once again managed to create a sound totally different from the previous album. The music sounds not only more mature, but also warmer and more relaxed. Especially “Just Another Thursday Morning” his latest cooperation with poetry icon Ursula Rucker, makes this clear. With this song a video will be released in the net soon.
The music of the album is already explained by it’s cover. You have to listen/look very carefully and maybe a couple of times to fully grasp the depth and variety of what you hear/see.

Das Ensemble Du Verre präsentiert „Sanctuary For Animals“, 11 musikalische Collagen. Auf dem dritten Album des Produzenten und Drummers Sönke Düwer aka Batterie Du Verre fügen sich verschiedenste Elemente zu einem homogenen Soundtrack zusammen. Das Ensemble bedient sich sowohl ihrer hervorragend gespielten Instrumente als auch diverser Anleihen aus moderner Clubmusik, klassischem Songwriting und Spoken Word Poetry, Schellack-Samples und Free Jazz Elementen, die mit Electronica verschmolzen werden. Ein weiteres Werk von E.D.V. das sich jeder Kategorisierung entzieht. Das Ergebnis liegt, wenn man sich gängier Schubalden bedienen mag, zwischen Filmmusik, Clubsound, Poetry und Jazz.
Düwer schafft es wiederum E.D.V. auch mit diesem Werk ganz anders als beim letzten Album klingen zu lassen. Nicht nur reifer scheint die Musik geworden zu sein, sondern auch wärmer und entspannter. Besonders "Just Another Thursday Morning", eine weitere Zusammenarbeit mit Poetry-Ikone Ursula Rucker, macht dies deutlich.
Schon das Cover des Albums erklärt eigentlich die Musik. Man muss schon ein paar mal hinschauen/hören um die ganze Tiefe und Vielfalt die hier geboten wird zu begreifen.
