"The Contemporary Cowboy" out now.

What does the cowboy do at the metro station? He is playing his never ending song … He's not one who´s get lost, like the clichee cowboy of our naive Hollywood fantasy, he is an urban man of our times, a contemporary cowboy. Just like the life of a cowboy is diverse and full of variations, the music of the 5th Ensemble Du Verre album isn't just based on one style, but it is a powerful statement about the urge to do your own thing, just like a cowboy, the man with "True Grit". The polarity of a cowboy's life, nature, big city life, always on the move yet homeward bound, he lives without compromise, it matches his lifestyle, his passions. All that can be found in the music of this record and is expressed through traditionally played acoustic instruments, electronic programming, strong arrangements and free improvisations, beats, sounds and melodies that go straight to the ears. "Short Story About Walt - Single" out now.

With "Short Story About Walt" E.D.V. presents the second single of the upcoming album "The Contemporary Cowboy" (release in October 2011). With this track mastermind and multi instrumentalist Soenke Duewer passionately pleads for the combination of different musical ingredients. In several sessions with himself he created a melting pot of his unique drum playing, an intense use of various electronica and acoustic guitar, representing Duewer's approach in "The Contemporary Cowboy".
In addition "A Green Meadow" is back with the second remix for Batterie. With his turbulent dubstep version he not only spins the original further but lifts it on a pulsing club level.
This second presentation rises the excitement for the fourth “Ensemble Du Verre” Album and lets the listener stay tuned. Listen.

"Emilys Poem - Single" out now.

"Emily's Poem" (Batterie 012) allows the renewal of EDV’s style for the upcoming album "The Contemporary Cowboy".Through the cooperation of the project's founder Sönke Düwer, who pulls as overall producer all the strings, with a completely new line-up, proves on their fourth album a far-reaching development of their unique sound universe. Special features here are catchy jazz-blues-cowboy guitar hooks and the intensive use of electronics and electronic sounds. EDV makes the biggest leap, however, through the participation of three fantastic new musicians. Listen.

"Expansions EP" out now.

Eden is a garden where everything we love and enjoy grows and flows. This is what the liner notes to Eden’s debut album “A Home for You” say. Timo Weiner and Sönke Düwer, who is introducing his latest project “A Green Meadow” right here, adopted this idea. In two completely different electronic remixes, both of them present Eden’s music from a DJ’s perspective. The original songs are still unmistakably there, but new beats and sounds turn the initial folkjazz/singer-songwriter-soul into something definitely danceable. Listen.

"Versions, Vibes & Remixes" (Batterie 009) out now. The second publication in this series comes from the Ensemble Du Verre. 10 new songs, made because of love and passion. Among the rest, Batterie Du Verre has produced the songs resulted in 2005 "Or Is The Moment Gone" (with Ursula Rucker) and "Phonetic" (with Sidsel Endresen) once again in quite different manner and, besides, has played in many tracks anew. Next Releases. On 10th of October the next two releases will come out.

"United Ancestors" is the debut album of "Energie Du Verre", the latest project of Soenke Duewer. A meltig pod of 100 years of Jazz and dancefloor. You can get this music on vinyl and digital. Only a limited edition is available here in our record store.

"Remixed" are six brandnew tracks on vinyl (and digital). On this EP some of the best german djs and producers give there versions of some tracks from "Sanctuary For Animals". Contemporary dancefloor music. Only a limited edition is available here in our record store.

Good news! Our record with the number 001, Ensemble Du Verre´s "Sanctuary For Animals" (Batterie 001), won the german critics award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik/Bestenliste 2/2008)! Yes, we are happy!

In October a remix EP (also on vinyl) of "Sanctuary For Animals" will come out. With six mixes of the hottest djs and producers of the german music scene. Stay tuned.

Batterie is a new independent label from Hamburg.

As a label we consider ourselves as a forum for creative music. We want to walk through the (musical) world with open ears and we want to develop and grow constantly. We do not care about categories like jazz, techno, funk or pop, but we do care about authenticity, energy and charisma. About new and interesting synergies in music.

Since we've been working as musicians and producers for many years, we bring in great experience and the urge to initiate a "scene". This could be a scene of labels or a concentration of creative sources on Batterie. In all this we focus on communication and exchange between the artists aswell as between artists and label.
